About Shatchandi Anushthan

Shatchandi is a powerful Devi anushthan in which Shri Durga Saptashati is recited one hundred times by a team of learned pandits, followed by dashansh havan, tarpan, marjan and Brahmin bhojan. It is performed for protection, removal of major obstacles and family welfare.

Samagri note: Your pandit shares a personalised samagri list at least three days before the ceremony. Most items are available at any puja store; on request, the pandit can bring the havan kund and special items for an additional, pre-agreed cost.

Shatchandi Anushthan — Step by Step

An outline of how the ceremony is conducted. Your pandit may adapt the order to your family tradition and regional practice.

  1. Arrival, setup & sankalp

    The pandit arrives about 30 minutes early, sets up the chowki facing east and takes the sankalp in the name and gotra of the yajman family, stating the purpose of the Shatchandi Anushthan.

  2. Sankalp in your name & gotra

    Performed with the prescribed mantras and upacharas, with the pandit guiding the family through each action.

  3. 100 Saptashati path by team

    The pandit recites the prescribed texts with correct swara and pauses to explain their meaning so the whole family can follow along.

  4. Daily progress updates

    You receive regular updates from the pandits, and prasad can be sent to your address on request.

  5. Havan & purnahuti

    Agni is consecrated in the havan kund and the family offers ghee and samagri with every mantra ending in “swaha”, concluding with the purnahuti.

  6. Kanya pujan & prasad

    Aarti is performed with lamps and camphor, bhog is offered to the deity, and prasad is shared with family and guests.

  7. Kshama prarthana & ashirvad

    The ceremony closes with a prayer seeking forgiveness for any unintentional error, followed by blessings for the family and guidance on what to do after the puja.

Yes. The pandit conducts the complete vidhi over a video call while your family performs the offerings at home. You receive the samagri list in advance so everything is ready before the call.

It covers the pandit's dakshina for the standard vidhi: Sankalp in your name & gotra, 100 Saptashati path by team, Daily progress updates, Havan & purnahuti, Kanya pujan & prasad. Samagri, travel outside city limits and additional pandits are quoted separately before you confirm.

Families usually arrange the samagri using the list the pandit shares before the ceremony. If you prefer, the pandit can bring the complete samagri kit for a pre-agreed amount.

Your pandit consults the panchang along with the birth details of the family head (or the individual concerned) to recommend auspicious dates and timings.
